American VRS Announces Closing VRS Services Effective March 30 2012

Special announcement from AmericanVRS:

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We’re writing to let you know that American Network has requested permission of the FCC to discontinue its IP-VRS Service effective March 30, 2012.

Importantly, as long as you choose another VRS provider and transfer your number by March 30, 2012, you can keep the same 10-digit number. Just contact a new provider of your choice directly and they’ll be able to help you. A list of providers can be found on the FCC website at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/trs-providers .

If we don’t hear from you between now and March 30th, we’ll assume that you’ve successfully chosen another provider and transferred your number to that provider.

We apologize for any inconvenience and are happy to answer any questions or concerns you have about this change.

SnapVRS Changed Customer Service Hours Due To Massive Layoffs

SnapVRS has now changed their customer service/ technical support hours due to massive layoffs and changes due to budget problems at the headquarters because of FCC withheld millions of dollars that SnapVRS did not get for several months. As I was informed that URRelay laid off all employees and was going to merge with SnapVRS but it was put on hold. Something is messed up at the moment.

STATEMENT ON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE LAWSUIT AGAINST AT&T IN

TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELAY SERVICES FRAUD CASE

From an FCC spokesperson:
“The Commission welcomes the Department of Justice’s filing, which arises from an investigation that
the Commission’s Office of Inspector General actively assisted. Fraudulent IP Relay practices are a
serious problem the Commission has been addressing, and the Commission’s Enforcement Bureau also
has ongoing investigations of IP Relay practices. We will continue to work with DOJ and other law
enforcement authorities to protect these critical services from abuse.”
